El Cabildo de Gran Canaria ha anunciado este martes que creará un Banco de Buenas Prácticas para trabajar en el marco de la prevención de forma trasversal y la educación, ya que considera que «solo con la implantación efectiva» de la igualdad se acabará con la «lacra» de la violencia de género.
Así lo ha anunciado el presidente del Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, y la consejera insular de Igualdad, María Nebot, a los representantes de los 21 ayuntamientos con los que han mantenido un encuentro, en el que estuvo presente la Concejala de Igualdad del Ayuntamiento de San Mateo, Iluminada Santana.
Morales ha incidido en que el gobierno insular tiene «muy claro» que la lucha contra la desigualdad, la búsqueda de la justicia y equidad social «está en la base» de su proyecto. Además, el presidente grancanario señaló que este Banco de Buenas Prácticas «irá engarzado en el Observatorio por la Igualdad que creará la institución insular para conocer la situación real» en la isla. En este sentido, indicó que con el objetivo de trabajar «estrechamente» con los municipios se creará un Consejo para la Igualdad con los 21 ayuntamientos, que este martes han manifestado su preocupación por la continuidad del convenio para atender a las mujeres víctimas de la violencia de género. A este respecto, Nebot ha garantizado la continuidad del convenio con el Instituto Canario de Igualdad y mostró la intención del Cabildo de «elevar al Gobierno canario la solicitud para que no sea anual si no plurianual», con el objetivo de acabar con los «problemas actuales por los retrasos de su parte de la subvención, a su vez procedente del Estado».
Nebot recordó que el Cabildo aporta dos millones de euros anuales y el Gobierno canario otros dos, y subrayó que la atención «es importante pero es necesario incidir más en la prevención, ya que la violencia es estructural», de ahí que incidió en la necesidad de articularla en el marco del convenio. Por ello, apuntó que las dificultades para afrontar la situación «no se encuentran tanto en la cuantía, cuatro millones anuales en total, sino en la gestión de dichos recursos, la rapidez en contar con ellos y la continuidad» en los servicios.
Ante esta situación, el Cabildo ha acordado con los ayuntamientos hacer un escrito, que entregará en septiembre al Gobierno canario, con dicha reivindicación y «no descarta acordar una postura común» por la igualdad con la Federación Canaria de Municipios (Fecam) y la Federación Canaria de Islas (Fecai) porque, resaltó, la violencia «es producto de la desigualdad» y en el marco del Instituto Canario de Igualdad la «lucha se ciñe a la violencia» pero, resaltó, se debe trabajar también la prevención, la educación e incidir en la igualdad.
