Yara Medina presentará en San Mateo su libro “El Rumor de las Folías”

cartelrumorsanmateo1La autora grancanaria Yara Medina (1984) presentará este mes de octubre en San Mateo su obra “El Rumor de las Folías”, una novela que vio la luz a finales del pasado año y cuya historia ha recorrido ya gran parte de la geografía canaria.

El rumor de las folías se centra en la vida de Luisa López, que un día decidió partir de Gran Tarajal, en los años de la Segunda República, sin mirar atrás. Estaba decidida a emprender una nueva vida y escapar de un matrimonio de conveniencia impuesto por su propio padre. Dejando Canarias, la tierra que la vio crecer, se concentró en buscar un oficio al otro lado del atlántico, en Cuba. En el buque conoce a la familia Westerling. Su futuro quedará entrelazado a ellos irremediablemente.

El rumor de las folías narra la vida de unos personajes que viven en un mundo que se divide en dos. Las corrientes ideológicas, los cambios sociales, el papel de la mujer y la crisis económica dibujan el contexto en el que se desarrolla la historia. La narración llena del espíritu y el sentir canario, plasma las costumbres, expresiones y formas de vida que marcaron una época; cuyos retazos llegan aún a nuestros días.

El acto de presentación tendrá lugar el próximo viernes 23 de octubre a las 20:30 horas en el local sociocultural de San Mateo.
