San Mateo, municipio clave en el recorrido del Rally Islas Canarias

IMG 20180411 234817 iloveimg resizedLa Vega de San Mateo es otro de los municipios que va a servir como ingrediente del Rally Islas Canarias. Por ello, su alcalde, Antonio Ortega, firmó días atrás un acuerdo de colaboración con el organizador de esta prueba automovilística que este año alcanza su edición número 43.

Su privilegiado entorno y sus carreteras darán brillo a la primera de las dos etapas, la del viernes 4 de mayo. La especial cronometrada de 15,04 kilómetros será la segunda y la quinta del rally arrancando a las 10:31 en la primera pasada y a las 15:20 en la segunda. Será un tramo inédito y, con dirección al centro de la isla de Gran Canaria, comenzará desde el mismo casco urbano de la Vega de San Mateo.

Repasando el recorrido, a pocos metros de la salida sobre la carretera GC-15, los participantes encontrarán una rotonda que deberán bordear por completo; desde allí tomarán por unos pocos metros un camino vecinal que incluye un espectacular cruce a izquierdas que les devolverá a la GC-15. En un ascenso donde primará la velocidad, los participantes llegarán a la Cruz de Tejeda, donde en otro giro a izquierdas sobre la carretera GC-150 pondrán rumbo a la meta, situada en el Mirador de Degollada Becerra.

Ortega y Morales mantuvieron una reunión en la sede del Ayuntamiento de San Mateo y en ella ambos suscribieron este convenio que ambas partes esperan que pueda mantenerse con el paso del tiempo. “Es la mejor promoción que podemos hacer de nuestro municipio que, además, está muy vinculado al mundo del motor en una trayectoria de muchos años. Pero, por encima de todo, para nosotros es un placer formar parte de este rally y queremos estar en próximas ediciones para que se siga promoviendo el nombre de la Vega de San Mateo, nuestro mercado, nuestros productos, nuestra gente y nuestros paisajes”, señaló Antonio Ortega.
